Un giorno buona lode abbiam riscossa
E poi nell’altro ciò non va più bene.
Ch'io dica solo due parole; e poi
Fate di me ciò che volete voi.
Per tanti intrecci, brogli e strane cose,
Per bizzarri caratteri e stranezze,
Devono le Commedie esser succose:
Inaspettate stramberie e vaghezze.
Non so, Uditor, di chi la causa sia,
Che accontentarvi sembra una follia.
Vogliamo in scena por Commedie nuove,
Cose grandi, e non mai rappresentate.
Non mi chiedete quando, come, o dove
Abbiam le cose nuove ritrovate.
Degli argomenti abbiamo per le mani.
Da far gli stolti diventare sani.
D'inaspettati casi qui vederete
In questa sera un'abbondanza grande,
Maraviglie, che udite aver potete,
Ma non vedute dalle nostre bande.
Bestie, portoni, corde e matrimoni
Diavoli, Fate, Principi e Buffoni…
I vostri servi stan per uscir fuore,
E vorrei dirvi prima l'argomento;
Ma mi vergogno, e tremo, ed ho timore
Con urla e fischi mi cacciate drento.
Ma di tacer ormai non ho più cuore
Delle tre Melarance egli è l'amore.
